Purchasing a hearing aid with state support

You can always buy a hearing aid at full price, but we are also a cooperation partner of the Estonian Social Insurance Board, which gives you the opportunity to purchase from us with state support.

In order to receive a hearing aid with the ISO code 22.27.09 with a government discount, the following steps must be followed:

1. Ask for a certificate from a family doctor or specialist:

You should first visit your family doctor or an otolaryngologist who will assess your hearing loss and the need for a hearing aid. The doctor will issue you with a corresponding certificate or referral letter. Indication: Persons with a problem in the outer, middle and/or inner ear structures, hearing loss from 50 dB.

2. Contact us or visit the Soundfr office:

Our people will help you with questions related to the aid and are specialists in their field. It is possible to try the Soundfr device before buying.

3. Submit the necessary documents:

In order to receive an aid, it is necessary to submit the following documents:

a. Doctor's certificate or referral.

b. Identity document.

4. Requesting an aid exception:

The state compensates the aid according to the limit price of one or the other aid. When purchasing an aid, the state pays its share and you pay your share. If the co-payment cost of the aid is too high for you, you have the opportunity to request a reduction (see Requesting an Exemption). When purchasing an aid, your co-payment is always a minimum of 7 euros (except for the purchase of incontinence products and the rental of an aid).

PAYMENT FOR AID IN EXCEPTION

In justified cases, it is possible to apply for an exception to purchase an aid. The application is submitted to the Estonian Social Insurance Board before the purchase of the aid (ie, if the transaction has already been made, you cannot apply for an exception).

YOU CAN REQUEST AN EXCEPTION IN THE FOLLOWING CASES

1. To reduce the deductible. The deductible is the amount you have to pay for your aid. The amount of the deductible depends on the aid, its cost and the limit. You can find more detailed information here. The Estonian Social Insurance Board reduces the deductible if the applicant or his family has been paid subsistence allowance in the month of application or in the preceding 12 months.
If your financial situation does not allow you to pay the co-payment, the Social Insurance Board can reduce the co-payment of the aid up to five percent of the cost of the aid. For this purpose, a request to reduce the deductible must be submitted and consent to view income-related data in various information systems or databases. When reducing the deductible, we take into account the income of the applicant (legal representative in the case of children), monthly obligations to aids and limits of coping.
2. To acquire a new aid, because the aid in use no longer meets your needs (for example, your hearing or vision has deteriorated; the aid does not help you; the aid was destroyed as a result of an accident, etc.).
3. You need an aid that is not included to the list of aids, but without this aid you will not be able to cope in everyday life.
4. You need an aid for which the list of aids has the indication "on the basis of an exception request".

When applying for an exception, it is necessary to submit to the Social Insurance Board a copy of the assistive device certificate, which states the required assistive device. The necessary aid may also be specified in the rehabilitation plan. If the need for an aid is indicated in the rehabilitation plan, it is not necessary to submit it to the Social Insurance Board. You can add a more comprehensive assessment (or video) of the therapist on the suitability and necessity of the aid to the certificate. An exemption application is available HERE or in the customer service of the Estonian Social Insurance Board. The application can be submitted in self-service, by post, e-mail or at the customer service of the Estonian Social Insurance Board.

The main specialists of the Estonian Social Insurance Board will review the documents you have submitted and, if necessary, contact you to clarify the details. If the necessary documents for the review of the application are available, the decision will be sent to you within 30 days at the latest.

In case of a positive decision, contact the company of the aid and agree on the method of transaction and delivery of the aid. When contacting the company, take an identity document with you.

5. Aid maintenance and after-sales service:

After receiving the aid, it is important to follow the care instructions and, if necessary, visit follow-up examinations to ensure the correct functioning of the aid.

NB! With state support, it is possible to purchase a hearing aid every 6 years. You can read about the detailed conditions on the website of the Estonian Social Insurance Board or find out more from us.
